Cavansite is a rare mineral belonging to the phosphate group with the chemical formula Ca(VO)(Si₄O₁₀)-4(H₂O). It is named after its main constituents: calcium (Ca), vanadium (V) and silicon (Si). This mineral is known for its intense blue to turquoise color, making it one of the most attractive collector's pieces. The mineral forms crystals in small, needle-like or tabular aggregates that often cluster in rosette or star-shaped formations. These crystal groups look very decorative.

Cavansite is found mainly in zeolite deposits where it forms during low-temperature hydrothermal processes. Important deposits are found mainly in India, specifically in the Maharashtra region , where some of the most beautiful and highest quality specimens are found. Other deposits are in Oregon, USA, and Brazil.

Cavansite was discovered relatively recently, only in 1967, and quickly became a popular collector's mineral due to its color and crystal forms.
