Hassi Khebi 001
The Hassi Khebi 001 meteorite was discovered in 2022 in the Tindouf area of Algeria. It is a carbonaceous chondrite (C3-ung), indicating that it is an unclassified type of carbonaceous chondrite. The number 3 in the designation indicates that the meteorite is less metamorphosed than those with a designation of 4 or 5, which means that the chondrules in it are very well preserved. The weight of the meteorite is approximately 500 grams.

This meteorite has a dark grey to black surface crust with a melt layer. When cut, a scattering of well-developed chondrules can be seen in the black matrix, which makes up more than 50% of the meteorite's volume. Some of the chondrules show orange iron staining. The meteorite also contains rare CAI inclusions, which are minerals that formed as the first solids in the solar system.
