Meteorite NWA 869 is a common chondrite L3-6, discovered in 2000 at an unknown location in the Sahara Desert. The total weight of the fragments found is approximately 2 tonnes, and specimens can range in weight from a few grams to more than 20 kilograms. This meteorite is unique in that it contains breccia, meaning that it is composed of fragments of different types of chondrites and includes chondrules, metal particles and other inclusions. As a result of wind erosion, the fusion crust in many sampleshas been either removed or smoothed out, which has also caused the formation of deep erosion marks on the surface.
