The Tni-Haia 001 meteorite was discovered in the southwestern part of the Algerian desert on January 5 and 6 , 2022 by meteorite hunters. It is classified as a Rumuruti chondrite (R3), which are rare types of stony meteorites with a low degree of metamorphosis, containing abundant chondrules (spherical mineral grains) that indicate minimal thermal alteration.
The total mass is 2 kg, with fragments having a dark grey to black surface, partly with a fused crust. Petrographic analysis revealed spherical chondrules approximately 350 µm in diameter in a matrix with Fe-rich olivine and sodium plagioclase. No free metal is present but troilite, pentlandite and chromite containing titanium are present.
