Tiglit

Tiglit is a rare aubritemeteorite, which was observed to fall on 9 December 2021 in southern Morocco, near the village of Tiglit. Aubrites are achondritic meteorites rich in the mineral enstatite, indicating their origin from an enstatite-rich asteroid. The total mass of the Tiglit fragments found is approximately 2.2 kg.

The meteorites have a brittle texture and are covered with a multi-coloured fusion crust in shades of green, orange and brown. The internal composition comprises mainly enstatite with admixtures of diopside and olivine. Due to its bright appearance, Tiglit is sometimes referred to as a 'lunar imposter' because it can resemble lunar meteorites, although its origin is different.
